Description
This is a nicer, still crispy,
"Duex Francs"
note of
"Allied Military Currency"
from
"Liberated"
World War II France.
When the Allies were pushing Germany out of France in 1944, these notes were printed by the Forbes Lithograph Company of Boston. The note carries the small
"F"
for Forbes at the top in the lower left scroll. They printed the serial numbers from 00000001 to 99999999 and used a replacement note for the 100,000,000th note.
The second time through the numbers, they added the Block Number "2" to the right and slightly lower than the serial number. This note is from the first run and lacks the Block Number.
