    History:
The Danish West Indian-Guinean Company found the two unhabitated island Saint Thomas (Sankt Thomas) and Saint John (Sankt Jan) in 1672.
In 1733 Saint Croix was bought from the French West Indian Company and all 3 islands went under control of the Danish King in 1755.
European guns and industrial products was traded for gold, ivory and African slaves who was brought in from Ghana to work on the sugar plantations on the islands whereafter sugar and Rum was brought back to Europe.
A few years in the 19th century, the islands was occupied by Great Britain during the English wars.
The Danish West Indies was sold to USA in 1917 for the ridiculously small sum of 25 million Dollars, but negotiations also took place with Germany, so they could very well have been German now.
Today, Saint Thomas, Saint John and Saint Croix is a part of the US Virgin Islands.
