    First World War era emergency scrip or "
    Billet de necessite",
    issued by the Ville de Tourcoing, Department de Nord, during the 1914
    Mobilization of French forces.  A number of similar emergency currencies were issued during the period, by this Department and others.  Worn and with mild soiling, otherwise intact; faded counter stamp partially visible on Reverse. European sources indicate that this seems to be scarce, with value of close to U. S.
