    Description

"ST. CLAIR TUNNEL--RAILS BENEATH THE RIVER" is the history of the St. Clair Tunnel in the Sarnia and Port Huron areas of Ontario and an important piece of Grand Trunk Railroad history. It was opened in 1891 running under a river bed and considered a marvel of engineering. The St Clair Tunnel Company ran numerous trains during the period using electric and diesel locomotives. In 1982, Amtrak reinstated passenger service between Toronto and Chicago via the St Clare Tunnel and in 1985, the Canadian National Railroad began operation of "Laser"train intermodel service between Chicago and Toronro/Montreal.  TONS of little-known history is here!     SEE ATTACHED PHOTOS FOR SAMPLE PAGES.
Book is softback published in 1991. It is in EXCELLENT CONDITION, is INSCRIBED and SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR, measures 8" x 8 3/4" and contains 96 pages.
